Californians for Retirement Security
SACRAMENTO – Following is a statement by Dave Low, chairman of Californians for Retirement Security, about plans for an interim conference committee on pensions:
“While we welcome the Legislature's focus on pensions during the interim, public employees are already participating in meaningful efforts to trim costs and curb pension abuses at the state and local levels. We will not, however, tolerate hasty, ideologically driven attempts to break promises to public employees for the sake of political expediency. “
Californians for Retirement Security represents 1.5 million public employees and retirees. Its executive committee includes: California School Employees Association, California Faculty Association, California Teachers Association, California Association of Highway Patrolmen, California Professional Firefighters, Peace Officers Research Association of California, Orange County Employees Association, Service Employees International Union Local 1000, Professional Engineers in California Government, California Association of Professional Scientists, California Federation of Teachers Ballot Committee, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the San Bernardino Public Employees Association.
